What We Do

Our volunteer team travels every four to six months to visit a group of the villages we serve. The work we do is made possible through our strong relationships and cooperation with village leaders. We model our goals on the World Health Organization Millennium Development Goals. The United Nations Millennium Declaration, signed in September 2000, committed world leaders to combat poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and discrimination against women.

During each visit we provide:

  • Community Need Assessments
  • Health Care Screenings
  • Clinical Care
  • Health Education

GVH is committed to working in partnership with villagers and their community leaders. Our goal is to create programs sustainable by Guatemalans. Once we reach a consensus on their needs, we train them in the skills they’ll need to maintain the programs for themselves.
